The department is fully trained to Firefighter I level through the Minnesota State Certification Board, with many volunteers trained to the Firefighter II and EMT levels. The department protects the area using seven fire trucks: 3 pumpers, 2 - 2000 gallon water tankers, a grass fire truck and a rescue truck. Additional equipment includes heavy rescue extrication equipment, a thermal imaging camera, a four-gas air monitoring system used especially for carbon monoxide detection, full interior firefighting equipment including NFPA-approved turnout gear and SCBA systems. The Kenyon Fire Department is active in the Southeastern Minnesota Region 15, the Minnesota State Fire Department Association, the Minnesota State Fire Chief's Association, the International Association of Arson Investigators, the Minnesota Chapter of Arson Investigators, the National Fire Protection Association, and the National Association of Fire Investigators.
